What is EDM drilling?
EDM drilling, like other EDM methods, is the process of drilling holes on an electrically conductive surface with an electrode tube. EDM drilling is optimised to make holes in materials at high speeds, regardless of the hardness or resilience of the material. In this way, it can create clean and deep holes in a range of sizes, suitable for several applications.

How does EDM drilling work?
EDM drilling works by making a spark between the workpiece and the electrode tube as it drills. This spark generates heat between the workpiece and electrode and erodes the workpiece. EDM drilling is particularly useful when drilling hard materials, such as hardened tool steel or alloys, and tungsten carbide.
