Microtec EDM Limited was established in 2001 to specialise in all aspects of wire and spark erosion technology and quickly gained a solid reputation for producing high quality precision parts at competitive prices.
Gaining ISO 9001 compliance in February 2005, the company has continued to improve and update its production capabilities. Our move during 2017 to our current premises in Shoeburyness has enabled us to increase our suite of EDM machinery by some 25% incorporating the latest GF Machining solutions technology. We have also added a Hexagon global S CMM probe to our inspection service as well as upgrading our existing Nikon CMM optical facility.
Microtec’s highly qualified and experienced staff can provide a complete production service from CAD design assistance and prototyping, to mass production of components incorporating full product traceability throughout the process.
“Our latest Micro EDM machinery is capable of utilising 20 micron wire and can consistently maintain tolerances of less than 3 microns!”
WHAT IS WIRE EROSION?
Wire erosion is an extremely accurate method of producing parts from any electrically conductive material with high quality results. Microtec's fleet of EDM Machinery represent the best in highend, micro precision technology currently on offer from Charmilles and are particularly suited to the production of intricate, complex parts, down to 20 microns in size with tolerances of less than 3 microns. The added advantage of the latest CNC technology means these machines can run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, allowing for very competitive pricing and quick turn around times. This method of precision engineering is obviously suited to both small and high volume batch work but it is also suitable for one-off and prototype enquiries.
WHAT IS SPARK EROSION?
Spark erosion is where an electric spark between 8-12 thousand degrees Celsius is created between an electrode (cutting tool) and the work piece effectively 'vaporising' the material to create the required design. Microtec's Charmilles Roboform 350 machine combines high speed finishing, micro and automated tool changer capability thus speeding up the production process. Lower electrode wear also keeps down the cost of the product.
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
“As we enter an era of increasingly rapid change, it is important for businesses to be able to demonstrate their products are fit for purpose. The CBI fully endorses the view that, for markets to function properly, purchasers must have confidence the standards are being met."
